5 out of 5 stars Exact duplicate of a Capone era fedora   July 31, 2010
R. CROSBY (Northern, illinois)
Okay, after reviewing all of these fedora hats on Amazon, I at last chose one. I needed it for a guided "Gangster tour" I was taking with relatives in Chicago. I am in my mid-fifties and recall very well the fedoras my Dad wore to work everyday growing up. This is as close to an actual period hat as you will get without spending the big cash for a felt model--if you can find one. Forget these guys who wrote on reviews it is a "hard plastic hat covered with felt material." If you were in the Army, or Marines you may recall the "Montana Peak" hats the Drill Sgt.'s wore. This is the exact same hat material. Starched fur-wool-felt blend. It holds up to the elements abuse and keeps it's shape. The only drawback I have is that I had to exchange it for a smaller size. But it was free of charge to do so. I am very happy with the hat and recommend it to anyone looking for a Fedora from the 1920's-30's-40's or 1950's periods. These people at Dorfman got the look right for this fedora hat. (P.S.--if you buy the popular 3 inch brim hats of the "Indy" model, you may be disappointed as that extra half inch makes it look like a cowboys hat. True fedoras had a 2-1/2 inch brim back in the day. A 3 incher would only work for a big guy with a big head. That half inch does make a noticable differance to guys of an average height).

3 out of 5 stars Pricey for the quality   June 7, 2010
A little sorry I bought this
I think the description is accurate, but I think it is fairly pricey for the quality. It is good for a costume, but is not really a hat you would wear everyday. Plus, I agree with other reviews, the size runs extremely small. I ordered a large, and even though it fits on the head, you can't pull it down to ears, it kinda perches on the top of your head. Wouldn't order again, would find a better option. I am using it as a prop, so it is going to be fine, but I think I paid too much!

I live in Anderson, Indiana and to say the least, this Indiana Jones classic is a smashing success. It wears very well and is starting to confirm to head size comfortably. I am very happy and others are very envious!

5 out of 5 stars Great inexpensive hat   February 18, 2010

This is a very nice inexpensive fedora. It is stiff wool felt (it is not plastic as another reviewer stated). It fits great and looks even better. If you want a bit softer material, you can always shell out for the fur felt version (which is nice, but currently too pricey for me) or go for the crushable felt which is around the same price, but doesn't look quite as nice to me. I did remove the Indiana Jones pin easily with no damage to the hat. I love the style of the hat, but didn't want that pin on there. Now I just need a bomber jacket, bull whip and some nazis or russkis to fight.

1 out of 5 stars Very hard   January 30, 2010

This hat is molded plastic with felt wool covering it and a satin interior. It looks nice however it's very uncomfortable to wear. We returned ours.
