 A comfortable man's summer dress hat at a nice price July 22, 2010

I've had this hat for a few weeks now. This is my first Panama, but my fifth "dress" hat. This hat feels terrific -- it is true to size, with a very comfortable head-band. It looks good, too -- it is a clean white, but not painfully bright, and it is well-woven: uniform, tight, and well-edged. I worried about staining a white hat, but of course the hat band outside matches the width of the internal head band, so perspiration stains have been and should stay invisible. The front pinch is re-enforced with a internal cloth patch, so I expect it will keep its shape. I wanted a summer hat to wear to dress-shoe occasions where my favorite hemp Henschel is too casual, and my winter Stetson too heavy, and I found it. Delivery time and packaging were also fine.

Exceeded my expectations. Arrived one day earlier than anticipated. Beautiful handmade craftsmanship. Less expensive than the competition including shipping.

It has a nice shape. It has a tear drop shaped crown. The crown height is tall-ish (5 inches in the center). The one I got had a 3 inch brim all around. The ribbon and the toquilla quality is ok. Can't expect too much from a hat at this price. I wonder how long it will stay looking good. I have gotten quite a few complements from both men and women this last summer. If you are new to wearing panama hat, this may be a good one to start with.

This is an exceptional hat for the money. I found the hat to run a little large so if you wear a 7 1/2 size I would order a 7 3/8. The workmanship for the price was excellent. I suggested to the seller that they glue a piece of light canvas in the pinch area of the hat to re-enforce it, use a thicker sweat ban and add a feather to the hat. It may cost a little more but it is worth it.
The hat is back woven at the edge of the brim which is a must for me and is customary for the more expensive panama's. It is also woven to size which is a must for me too. I'm not a fan of the elastic universal sweat ban which in my opinion cheapens a hat.
The vendor is excellent but your comunications will be by email only and they will answer your emails at the end of the day.
This hat was to replace my everday panama summer hat that I had wornout. I will be ordering another hat from this vendor next year.

Well worth the money and than some. The hat is well made (no loose ends), it fits well and it comes with directions that will help me care for it. My wife is impressed. Prefect hat for golf or a sunny state like New Mexico.
